Forgive the repost — Stella’s adoption fell through and I got a better photo. I won’t post again, don’t worry. 🙂Just want to find this girl a loving home before I have to take her back to the shelter next week.
This sweet, calm 8-year-old cattle dog ended up at the county shelter when her owner became incapacitated. She is a lovely girl, friendly to people and children, playful and fun to be around. Stella is housebroken and very obedient. She walks nicely on leash and is comfortable with the Gentle Leader. She knows basic commands like drop it and sit, and probably more. I am fostering her and she’d be a foster fail except she is dog and cat reactive, and I have one of each. She’s made so much progress in two weeks I’ve had her — I live in a high foot traffic neighborhood with lots of dogs, and am teaching her to look at me when she sees one. She learns fast! Still, she’d probably be happiest as the only pet. Stella wants nothing more than to relax and cuddle with her human! She will be your best friend.

"Norman is an energetic 3 year old herding dog mix. He loves training and is very adept at agility and other tricks (spin and jump for example). He loves having a job and is very food motivated!
He is a great snuggler (he will let you use his body as a pillow) and loves to cuddle in bed. Fetch and soccer are favorite activities.
Norman currently lives with 2 cats and enjoys playing with them. He is aware that they are the ones who rules the roost. He is reactive toward other dogs and has not had interactions with children in the home. There is a possibility he could be introduced to another dog or children with the help of a trainer.
We`ve been working on reactivity to other dogs with a trainer and he has made improvements. He`s recently started running with the Portland Dog Runners and has been doing well with that.
He has had a prescription for Fluoxetine since late 2022 to help with reactivity. Outside of that, no health issues and he is up to date on vaccinations.
I would love to be available to answer questions, give information about Norman`s training, etc."

"Ginny is a purposefully-bred cattle dog/Decker rat terrier mix. We know both of her parents, and they are wonderful, active farm dogs. We brought her home when she was 2 months old, and she has been very well-socialized since birth. She is house-trained, and loves meeting new people and dogs. She does well with positive reinforcement training; currently, she is great at sit, stay/wait, loose-ish leash walking, drop it, and is slowly improving on her off-leash recall. She is also very cooperative with most kinds of handling, even from strangers. She has proven to be an awesome road trip companion (we`ve driven cross-country to the east coast and back with her) as well as a great coffee shop patio buddy.
We are heartbroken to have to rehome her after a series of very expensive vet visits for injuries, including a severe cat scratch to her left eye and an abscess from foxtails behind her right eye. She will require an annual ophthalmologist visit to monitor for glaucoma in the left eye, and has reduced vision in that eye. She is in excellent health otherwise, and behaviorally sound.
We know she will do great with an active owner/family who can be attentive to her training and moderate health needs, and who doesn`t have cats. She`s very easy to train and is a cuddle bug on the couch with us at the end of the day."

"Cedar was a part of a litter of 7 that had been abandoned with their mom (Violet) at just 2 weeks old in South Texas. Cedar is such a sweet, incredibly smart, active, and eager to learn pup who is well adjusted and thrives on routine! He loves to play with other dogs, toys and chew on his bully stick. He is fully potty trained (and has been since he was 14 weeks old!) and is very well crate trained. He is an active little guy and would be a great candidate for an adopter that wants to do some search and rescue training or agility/dog sports - Cedar`s incredible drive and nose actually helped his fosters find a rat`s nest that they`d been trying to locate without success. He also is very quick at picking up training and tricks (down, sit, place, crate, shake, rollover, middle, heel, touch, fix it, leave it) and has all of his basic obedience down pat including thresholds! He is great at walking on a leash and sleeps through the night - he knows when the nighttime routine is starting and starts to wind himself down along with the rest of the family! When Cedar gets out his puppy energy, he loves asking for belly rubs and pets from everyone in the family."

"Porter is a 14 month old red heeler mix. He is smart, playful and very affectionate with his people.
We found him as a stray this winter but sadly cannot keep him because we both travel a lot for work.
Wrestling, chasing and being chased by other dogs is one of his favorite activities along with off-leash sniff-a-thons, mountain biking wingman-ing, chasing waves and curling up on the sofa for a nap with his people.
He learns very quickly (especially with treats) and has made excellent progress learning about civilization since he first came to us. His recall is great (unless there is a squirrel involved) and he is a champ in the car. He is house broken and sleeps through the night in his crate. He knows basic commands - sit, stay, shake, roll over, load up, come and is learning drop it, leave it, spin and lay down. He is good on a leash.
New people and new inside spaces still make him a little nervous, but he will warm up in short order. He would rather be adventuring with you 24/7 but can be left alone at home for several hours with no issues. He struggles to leave his scavenging ways behind when outside but does not counter surf and will just lay down during human meal times. Routines and clear boundaries help him feel at ease. Regular exercise and mental stimulation are important for him.
We love Porter and know he will be such a sweet, devoted pup for somebody."
