Date/Time TBD
Many behavior challenges and rescue dogs stem from underlying emotional struggles, not just a lack of training. Barking, lunging, or growling often result from fear and the need for space – not defiance. Suppressing these behaviors without addressing the root cause can create even more stress for the dog. True progress comes from building the dogs, confidence, and offering positive, choice based alternatives – not force or coercion. And Karen Deeds upcoming webinar, “In Whose Best Interest?” she will explore the complex realities that rescue volunteers face when working with dogs who have serious behavior challenges. She’ll discuss the importance of management, behavior modification, and how to assess what’s truly the best interest of the dog. Volunteers will learn how to recognize key behaviors and how to discuss these observations with rescue coordinators and training consultants, ensuring each dog emotional, and behavioral needs are met.
Karen will also address a difficult but necessary conversation around humane behavioral euthanasia, and all other options have been exhausted and emphasize logical decision-making, empathy, and the dogs welfare.
This webinar will help rescue volunteers getting clarity on how to assess challenging cases. Whether you’re involved in decision-making or providing direct care, the session will empower you to approach to situations with both compassion and critical thinking.
